Integrated Corporation is proud to announce that a final-year project jointly mentored with the Hong Kong Metropolitan University (HKMU) has been accepted and presented at the 16th IEEE Symposium on Computer Applications & Industrial Electronics (ISCAIE 2026), held from 25–26 April 2026 at Parkroyal Penang, Malaysia. The paper, titled “A Privacy-Preserving RAG Framework for Diabetes Management Chatbots”, was authored by HKMU School of Science & Technology student Ms. Ka Man Luk, together with academic supervisors Dr. Kevin Hung and Dr. Gary Man-Tat Man, and industry mentor Mr. Jimmy Siu, Deputy General Manager of Integrated Corporation.

Bridging Industry Expertise with Academic Innovation

The accepted paper showcases an offline, privacy-preserving medical chatbot for diabetes self-management. Built on an open-source biomedical large language model (Bio-Medical-Llama-3-8B) and a Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) pipeline, the system grounds its answers in trusted sources — including the World Health Organization and the MedQuAD dataset — while keeping all user data on the local device. Independent LLM-as-a-judge evaluation across 100 diabetes questions returned an average score of 4.34 / 5, with 83% of responses rated medically correct or substantially correct.

Throughout the project, Mr. Jimmy Siu provided technical direction on safe deployment of generative AI in regulated healthcare contexts, RAG architecture design and evaluation methodology — translating Integrated Corporation’s commercial AI experience into hands-on guidance for the student team.

A Long-Standing Commitment to University Partnerships

For many years, Integrated Corporation has worked alongside Hong Kong Metropolitan University and other tertiary institutions to co-supervise final-year projects, host internships, and contribute real-world problem statements to undergraduate research. Acceptance into an IEEE conference proceeding — with submission earmarked for inclusion in IEEE Xplore — marks a significant milestone for both the student and the company’s collaborative model.
